Ángel Luis Rodríguez Díaz (born 26 April 1987), known simply as Ángel, is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for Real Zaragoza as a forward.

Football career

Born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Ángel emerged through the youth ranks of local CD Tenerife, scoring seven second division goals in his first full professional season. He split the 2007–08 campaign on loan to two third level teams, including Real Madrid Castilla.

Returning to the Canary Islands for 2008–09, Ángel was an important offensive element as the club returned to La Liga after a seven-year absence. He made his debut in the competition on 29 August 2009 in a 0–1 away loss against Real Zaragoza (ten minutes played),[1] and contributed with one goal[2] in 24 games – all as a substitute – during the season, in an eventual relegation.

In the 2010 summer Ángel returned to division two, as he signed with Elche CF.[3] On 23 April 2011 he scored all of his side's goals in a 3–0 home win over SD Huesca,[4] and netted a total of 29 times during his spell with the Valencian,[5][6] including once in the unsuccessful promotion playoffs against Real Valladolid.[7]

Ángel signed with top flight team Levante UD on 15 June 2012, agreeing to a 2+1 contract.[8] He scored two goals in the UEFA Europa League in the first half of the campaign[9][10] but, after seeing playing opportunities limited, returned to former club Elche in January 2013, on loan.[11]

Levante did not renew his contract after the end of 2013–14 and, on 9 July, Ángel joined newly promoted SD Eibar on a one-year deal, with an option to extend for a further year.[12] On 13 July 2015 he signed a two-year deal for Real Zaragoza, in the second level.[13]
