Özgür Uyanık

Özgür Uyanık is a writer and film director.

Born in Turkey and raised in the United Kingdom, he has written and directed award-winning short films and ad campaigns including Oblivious (2001) starring Sienna Guillory which won Best European Short Film at the Brussels European Film Festival (official website) as well as being short-listed for a BAFTA and sold to Universal Sci-Fi Channel and Canal+ International for several territories. Other selected awards:

WINNER Best Marketing Campaign and Most Creative in the Field of Science at Turkey's health industry communications awards, Farmaskop, for Novartis on-line campaign "Solunum Ne Olacak?" (“My Last Breath?”)

WINNER Best Theatre Play of 2012 for "Mi Minor", Radikal Newspaper Readers Poll (wrote and directed film installation segments)

NOMINATED Best UK Feature at Raindance Film Festival, "Resurrecting the Street Walker"

WINNER Best Use of New Media at the UK's Communique Awards for Age Concern's on-line campaign "Hungry to be Heard"

WINNER Best European Short Film Award, Brussels European Film Festival for "Oblivious"

SPECIAL JURY MENTION Nuremberg Germany-Turkey Film Festival short film "Belly"

The 2010 released Resurrecting: The Street Walker produced by 2nd Floor Productions in association with Scala productions is Uyanık's feature film debut as writer-director. Nominated Best UK Feature at Raindance Film Festival and official selection at International Istanbul Film Festival, FAB Edinburgh Horror Film Festival, The Festival of Fantastic Film Manchester, Dublin Horrorthon, Abertoir Horror Film Festival, Belgium's Razor Reel and he Haapsalu Horror & Fantasy Film Festival.

"Holy Men", his second feature-length film project was selected for the 2014-2015 Binger Filmlab Writer's Lab in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
