Vietnamese communal temples (Vietnamese: đình) are typical of buildings found in the countryside in Vietnam, dedicated to the village founder. They also playing a role as a gathering place of the people in the local community.
History

Previously, the đình is the pavilion for relaxation. In 1231, King Trần Nhân Tông issued an edict to place Buddhas in the đình.
