(a small circle) is the Devanagari abbreviation sign (Hindi (from Sanskrit): लाघव चिह्न Lāghava Cihna "brevity sign"), comparable the ellipsis ..., or the hyphen - as used in the Latin alphabet. It is encoded at Unicode codepoint U+0970.[1]

It is used as abbreviation sign in Hindi and other Devanagari script based languages. For example, "Dr." is written as "डॉ॰", "M.Sc." as "ऍम॰ऍससी॰" etc.
