10 Day (mixtape)
10 Day is the first official mixtape by American hip hop recording artist Chance the Rapper. It was released on April 3, 2012 independently as a free digital download. The mixtape garnered significant buzz and critical acclaim and garnered the attention of many music media outlets. The mixtape has been streamed over 300,000 times and downloaded over 400,000 times on mixtape site DatPiff.[1][2]
Background
Following a 10-day suspension in early 2011 during his senior year for possessing marijuana on campus, Bennett recorded his first full-length project, 10 Day.[3] Prior to the mixtape, Bennett was highlighted as one of Complex magazine's "10 New Chicago Rappers to Watch Out For."[4] The mixtape includes guest features from Vic Mensa, Sulaiman, and Nico Segal, now known as Donnie Trumpet. The mixtape also includes production from Petter Cottontale, Chuck Inglish, Blended Babies, DJ SuchNSuch, MF Love, Flying Lotus, THEMPeople, Caleb James, Lex Luger. The mixtape would also grab the attention of Forbes magazine, which featured it in the publication's Cheap Tunes column.[5]
