111 First Street was an artist residency and loft building that developed in the 1980s and is now an approved 52-story skyscraper to be built in the Powerhouse Arts District or WALDO neighborhood of Jersey City. It is designed by Rem Koolhaas and is divided into four vertical rectangular sections that over-hang on the base below, as each will be at ninety degree angle to the section below.[1][2] The building has residences, a hotel, retail, artist lofts and gallery space planned.[3]
