The 1980 Royal Tru-Orange season was the sixth season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The team change its name to San Miguel Beermen beginning the All-Filipino Conference.

Summary

Open Conference: The defending champions bring back Otto Moore as their import, along with Bubba Wilson, a one-time backcourt man of the Golden State Warriors in the NBA. The Orangemen lost their first game to U-Tex but pick up their first win of the season four days after against Toyota Tamaraws, 93-84 on March 22. [1] RTO ended up last in the conference, winning just four out of their 18 games in the elimination phase.

All-Filipino Conference: The ballclub became known as San Miguel Beermen, a beer brand that have long been used by the company with their farm team in the MICAA. San Miguel advances in the round of six with a 5-4 won-loss slate. The Beermen didn't win any single matches in the quarterfinal phase of the tournament.
