1988 Baseball World Cup
The 1988 Baseball World Cup took place in Italy from August 23 to September 7. Cuba defeated USA in the final to win the tournament. This was the first time that the tournament was held under this name; prior competitions were staged under the name Amateur World Series and such competitions are now recognized as being in direct predecession to this event.
