1989–90 Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team
The 1989-90 Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team represented University of Kentucky in the 1989-90 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The head coach was Rick Pitino[1] and the team finished the season with an overall record of 14-14.[2] The team utilized a fast-paced offense predicated on taking a large number of three-point shots; after the team hit 18 of 41 three-point attempts in a game against Tennessee Tech, Lexington Herald-Leader columnist John McGill dubbed them "Pitino's Bombinos", a nickname which stuck.[3]
