1997 Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group IV
Main article: 1997 Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone
The inaugural Europe/Africa Zone Group IV tournament was held in two locations. Eight teams met March 19–23 in Gaborone, Botswana, and played a tournament of the same format as used in Group III (they were divided into two round-robin pools, from which the top two advanced to a promotion play-off). Six other teams met May 21–25 in Nicosia, Cyprus, on outdoor clay courts, and played a simple round-robin tournament.[1]
The tournament marked the Davis Cup debuts of Madagascar and Uganda.
