The 1998 New Zealand National Basketball League season was the 17th running of the competition. The Nelson Giants won the championship in 1998 to claim their second league title.[1] A mid-season game between the Canterbury Rams and the Northland Suns produced the highest ever scoreline in league history, a game that saw the Rams defeat the Suns 179–124.[2]
