The singles draw featured Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) No. 3, Australian Open quarterfinalist, Tennis Masters Cup and Sydney runner-up Juan Carlos Ferrero, Doha quarterfinalist and Marseille winner Roger Federer and Sydney quarterfinalist and Paris Masters champion Marat Safin.
