2006 English Greyhound Derby

The 2006 William Hill Greyhound Derby Final took place on 5 June 2006 at the prestigious Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium.

The race

The English Greyhound Derby 2006 title was won by Westmead Hawk, the defending champion. Westmead Hawk became only the fourth greyhound to win the Derby twice. Nick Savva's star, who was trailing Mineola Farloe around the last bend, produced his customary burst of late pace to snatch the victory on the home straight. Thus setting the fastest time of the year at the venue and paving the way for his stud career that would follow.
