The Kelly Clarkson / The Fray was a co-headlining concert tour by American pop-rock singer Kelly Clarkson and American alternative rock band The Fray. It supported Clarkson's fifth studio album, Stronger (2011), and The Fray's third studio album, Scars & Stories (2012). Beginning in July 2012, the tour predominately visited North America for thirty shows.[1] Most of the shows on the tour were held in outdoor amphitheatres.
Background
While promoting her forthcoming television series Duets on On Air with Ryan Seacrest, Clarkson (along with The Fray frontman Isaac Slade) announced the tour.[2] Previously, the two artists performed together at "Miracle on State Street", a radio festival by WTMX in Chicago. Illinois.[3] During The Fray's set, Clarkson was invited onstage to perform "The Christmas Song". It was this performance that sparked the collaboration. Clarkson states,
"We were kind of doing a radio circuit together and we did a couple together. We got to sing a Christmas song together on stage and we just sounded really good together, so I was like: 'Man, we should tour or something.'" If you want to see us both together we’re going to maybe sing together in the show as well. It will be cool."[4]
