The 2016–17 Toronto Maple Leafs season will be the 100th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on November 22, 1917.[1] The 2016–17 NHL season also commemorates the 100th season of NHL. On March 9, 2016 it was announced that the Toronto Maple Leafs would host the Detroit Red Wings as part of the Centennial Classic on January 1, 2017 at BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario.[2] References
