The 2016 Kentucky Derby (in full, the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands, due to sponsorship) will be the 142nd running of the Kentucky Derby. The race is scheduled to be run at 6:34 pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on May 7, 2016 at Churchill Downs.[1] The race will be broadcast in the United States on the NBC television network. [2]
Qualification

The Kentucky Derby is a race for 3-year-old Thoroughbred horses. The 2016 field will be determined by a points system that was introduced in 2013.[3]
Entries
The Post Position Draw of the entries for the Kentucky Derby was held Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the Churchill Downs Racetrack clubhouse.[4] After the draw was made the undefeated Nyquist was installed as the 3/1 favorite. [5]
