The 2016 Mississippi State Bulldogs football team will represent Mississippi State University in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Bulldogs will play their home games at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi, and compete in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They will be led by eighth year head coach Dan Mullen.
Schedule
Mississippi State announced its 2016 football schedule on October 29, 2015. The 2016 schedule consists of 6 home and away games in the regular season. The Bulldogs will host SEC foes Arkansas, Auburn, South Carolina, and Texas A&M, and will travel to Alabama, Kentucky, LSU, and Ole Miss.[1]
The Bulldogs will host the South Carolina Gamecocks for the first time since 2011. The team will travel to two Football Independent Schools, Massachusetts (UMass) for the first time and to Brigham Young (BYU) for the first time since 2000. Mississippi State will host the other two non–conference games against Samford of the Southern Conference and South Alabama of the Sun Belt Conference.

The Bulldogs will travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to face the Tigers of LSU in their first matchup on the road. Mississippi State lost to Tigers last season by two points when a field goal attempt as time expired was no good. The Bulldogs will look to try to win back-to-back games in Baton Rouge for the first time since the 1981 & 1983 contests.
