224 (Pembroke Yeomanry) Squadron - Welsh Transport Regiment RLC (V) is the only Territorial Army unit which recruits from Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire. The squadron is operationally focussed and comprises an HQ element and three troops:
- HQ 224 (Pembroke Yeomanry) Transport Squadron - Carmarthen.
- A Troop - Haverfordwest.
- B Troop - Carmarthen
- C (Training) Troop - Carmarthen
The soldiers of the Pembroke Yeomanry come primarily from Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire.
Role
As part of the Welsh Transport Regiment, 224 (Pembroke Yeomanry) Squadron's main role is to provide general transport support to the British Army and is equipped with Leyland-DAF heavy lift vehicles.
Battle honours
FISHGUARD. This was awarded to the Pembroke Yeomanry (Castlemartin) in 1853[2] to reflect the Regiment's involvement in the last invasion of Britain by the French in 1797.
