22577 Alfiuccio, provisional designation 1998 HT51, is a stony asteroid from the inner regions of the asteroid belt, about 2.4 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered by the Lowell Observatory Near-Earth-Object Search (LONEOS) at Anderson Mesa Station in Flgastaff, Arizona, on 30 April 1998.[5]
The S-type asteroid is a member of the Flora family, one of the largest groups of stony asteroids in the main-belt. It orbits the Sun at a distance of 2.0–2.6 AU once every 3 years and 6 months (1,266 days). Its orbit shows an eccentricity of 0.15 and is tilted by 4 degrees to the plane of the ecliptic. It has a rotation period of 4.370 hours[4] and an albedo of 0.24, as assumed by the Collaborative Asteroid Lightcurve Link.[3]
The minor planet was named in memory of Alfio "Alfiuccio" Grasso (1992–2004) who died in a hunting accident on the slopes of Mt. Etna.[2]
