Laze & Royal also known as Bennett & Justyn are a multi-platinum selling American production duo from Beverly Hills, California. The group is made up of twin brothers, Bennett Armstrong and Justyn Armstrong,[1] both of whom are currently part of the musical group My Crazy Girlfriend.[2]
Background
Born to an African-American/Cherokee Indian father, who sang tenor for The Platters and an Austrian mother from Vienna, Austria (herself a classical pianist and stage singer), the brothers were raised in Beverly Hills, CA by their mother and attended Horace Mann and Hawthorne School in Beverly Hills, CA.
"Our mother played everything in the house from Al Green, to Kenny G, or The Platters", says Bennett. "Of course, for us, like every other young kid at first, we loved Michael Jackson. Then through our older brother Jeff we got introduced to Snoop, N.W.A, Sublime, Bush, Eve 6 and Nirvana."
Having traveled the country on multiple nationwide tours and collaborating in the studio with Bruno Mars, Ke$ha, Kara Dioguardi, The Writing Camp, Mitch Allen, The Smeezingtons, Baby Bash, Gucci Mane, Myah Marie, Brian Kennedy, E-40, Christina Milian, The Game, Polow Da Don, Chris Brown, Yung Berg, Tyga, VIC, Hurricane Chris, Scott Storch, DJ Unk, Cherish, along with scoring many major movie and television shows (CSI: Miami, Four Brothers, Barbershop 2, Bring it On 2, Like Mike 2, etc.)
Bennett & Justyn began their career at the age of 12 when they were discovered by producer Christopher "TRICKY" Stewart (Producer of Rihanna's "Umbrella", Beyonce's "Single Ladies", Mya "Case of the Ex"), Justin Bieber's "Baby" and more). They furthered their career after meeting music manager David Esterson.
In 2008, their song "Like A Pistol" grabbed the attention of world famous songwriter/producer and newly appointed judge on American Idol, Kara DioGuardi. Having created platinum hits for artists including Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion, Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson, and Santana, DioGuardi fell in love with Bennett & Justyn right away.
Bennett & Justyn are now part of the pop/alternative-hip hop group My Crazy Girlfriend signed to Warner/Chappell Music Publishing by Katie Vinten and Jon "Big Jon" Platt.
They produced the platinum selling 2015 song "I" for K-Pop superstar Taeyeon from Girls Generation on SM Entertainment. The YouTube video surpassed 55 Million Views and has sold 1.5 Million copies worldwide.
