The 495th Fighter Group (495 FG) is an Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) unit, part of the Air Reserve Component (ARC) of the United States Air Force. It is assigned to the Ninth Air Force, Air Combat Command, stationed at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, with additional geographically separated units (GSUs) at multiple active Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard installations across the United States.[1]
Overview
The 495 FG was reactivated as an Air Combat Command associate unit in March 2013. The role of the new group is to help the Air Force produce more qualified F-16 and A-10 pilots and provide skilled maintainers to assist in the maintenance of the same aircraft.[2]
