Atchyutani Gopala Krishnamurthy(28 April 1942, Vinukonda, Andhra Pradesh) was an Indian advertising professional. He founded Mudra Communications Limited, on the 25th of March, 1980, as its chairman and managing director.

Early life and career

Krishnamurthy graduated from Andhra University with a B.A. in History. Krishnamurthy started his career at Calico Mills in 1968. He moved to Shilpi Advertising, Calico's ad agency as an Account Executive in 1972. In 1976, he joined Reliance Industries, as Advertising Manager. He moved out of Reliance to set up Mudra Communications in 1980. He retired from Mudra in March, 2003, handing it over to Madhukar Kamath.[1] In 2003, he set up a consultancy named "AGK Brand Consulting".[2]

Legacy

He established Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad in March 1991 in order to provide workers to the expanding advertising industry in India, which till then had no source for manpower matching its needs. He has also written several books on his experiences in advertising and his clients. His latest book is Learnings of an Advertising Practitioner.[3] His earlier books include Ten Much, a collection of inspirational stories of people overcoming odds and realising dreams [4] 'Desi Dream Merchants and The Invisible CEO’.[5]

Death

Krishnamurthy died on 5th February 2016 in Hyderabad at the age of 73 after a brief illness.[6]
