A. Shipena School

Coordinates: 22°30′48″S 17°02′39″E / 22.5134°S 17.0443°E / -22.5134; 17.0443 A. Shipena is a secondary school in Windhoek, Namibia, in the Khomas region. It is a government school, and started with a maximum of 430 students and 16 teachers.

History

A. Shipena Secondary School was founded in 1985. A year after opening, the school was hit by a bomb on October 16, 1986, the day it held its first prize giving ceremony to reward students who did well academically and in sport. The administration block was severely damaged, and the event had to be cancelled.

In February 1987, the school received its first computer, bought by a radio programme that demanded schools to make bids. A. Shipena made the greatest bid of N$1900,00 and the price of the computer was N$35000,00.

The current headmaster of the school is H. Binda.
