Associação Desportiva do Bairro Craveiro Lopes (ADESBA for short) is a multisport club that had played in the Santiago Island South Zone League in Cape Verde. It is based in the capital city of Praia in the island of Santiago and plays in the stadium with a capacity of 8,000 The club never won a title, they only have a single cup title which was won in 1995. Its sports include football (soccer), basketball, futsal, similar to arena football and volleyball.

It is played along with Praia's three other famous teams including Sporting Praia, Boavista, Académica and CD Travadores in the same stadium.

The athletic club was formed in 1975. Its logo color has a gree seal with ADESBA on top and the club's full name on the bottom with the football (soccer ball) and basketball in the middle, the sports that Bairro have.

Uniform

Its uniform color is yellow with black pants and black striped socks for home games and all light green clothing for away games.

Stadium

Estádio da Várzea is a multi-use stadium in Praia, Cape Verde. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 8,000. The stadium has seat rows in the left and right sides and a small hill and a plateau lies to the west.

History

The football club was created in the late 1960s and participated in the second division until they reached the first division in 1990 and continued uninterruptedly since 1992.[1] The club entered the national competition for the first time in 2008, as Sporting, also from Praia won the island championship for the year and also they won the 2007 championship, they automatically participated which gave Bairro, the second place team to participate. Bairro reached the semi-finals and challenged against Sporting Praia, they won 3-2 in the first match and scored nothing and lost at the second match.

AD Bairro (Craveiro Lopes) won their national competition title in 2014/15 and was the first basketball club to compete in the African competitions and finished eight in the 2015 season.[4] Bairro Craveiro Lopes was the next club to compete in the African competitions in any sport, the last appearance was Sporting Clube da Praia in soccer in 2009.
