AESCRJ

The Associação das Escolas de Samba da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro - Association of Samba Schools of the City of Rio de Janeiro - or AESCRJ, is an association of the samba schools of city of Rio de Janeiro that administrated the Carnaval of all the groups since 1953. The AESCRJ was founded on March 5 of 1952, from the union of UGESB and of FBES, both nowadays extinct. Nowadays, the association administrates the grupos de acesso (access groups) and is headquartered in the neighborhood of Méier.

Dissent

The 'Association of Samba Schools of Rio de Janeiro' suffered its first dissent in 1984, when dissatisfied school principals decided to found the LIESA. In 1995, there was an attempt to separate schools in the Grupo de acesso of AESCRJ, with the creation of LESGA, and the proposal to create an entity linked to Liesa, both chaired by through Paulo de Almeida, which failed.

On 15 July 2008, seven presidents of associations of Grupo de acesso A decided to found the LESGA, in order to join the project and what they thought was best for the group.
