The AFC International Cup (an official name has not yet been announced) is a proposed international football competition for Asian Football Confederation (AFC) member countries who have "who have little opportunity to organise international friendly matches". The tournament was created following the termination of the AFC Challenge Cup.
The competition will feature 8 national teams, where each team will be guaranteed a minimum of 3 matches.[1] The first edition will take place in November 2016 and the second in September 2020.[1]
2016 Participants
The participants will include two losing teams from the qualifying play-off in addition to the six losing teams from the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification – AFC First Round.
