AN/PEQ-6
The AN/PEQ-6 is a laser aiming module (LAM) designed for use with the Mark 23 pistol.
The device attaches via rails to the pistol, under the barrel, and creates a small laser dot very near the point of bullet impact (within certain ranges). It was developed in the 1990s under the Offensive Handgun Weapon System (OHWS) program run by USSOCOM.[1]
The "official" SOCOM LAM is the one manufactured by Insight Technology.[2] It consists of a laser projector on the left side of the LAM and two flashlights on the right side. One setting of the laser produces a visible light dot, while another produces infra-red light which can only be seen while wearing night vision goggles. The illuminator has a rectangular white light flashlight unit on the upper part and a rectangular infra-red flashlight unit on the lower part.
