Plot

Newborn baby Annie is HIV positive and has been left in the clinic by her drug addicted mother. To prevent the girl from being deported to a home where she will wait to die, nurse Susan decides to take care of Annie at her own home. One year later she plans to adopt the child but suddenly Annie's mother reappears and demands her back. Under the law, Susan, as just the foster-mother, has no claim to the child.

Critical reception

Allmovie gave the film three out of five stars and described it as a "touching drama".[1]

Entertainment Weekly gave a favorable review and stated "There are a few crucial twists in this TV movie that don't bear giving away. You'll probably cry, but you won't feel manipulated. A Place for Annie is the kind of melodrama that gives tear-jerking a good name."[2]

People Magazine awarded the film an A- grade and stated "You'll need sponges to watch this simple, affecting film. Tissues just ain't going to do it."[3]
