Anantha Ramulu Mallu (1942–1990) was an Indian politician who served in the Lok Sabha.[1]

Early life and education

Mallu was born in Laxmipuram Village, of Wyra mandal, Khammam district, to a Harijan family. He was the eldest son of his family. His father Akhilanda Dasu and his mother Manikyamma.Mallu Ravi and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka are his brothers. He was a Post-graduate in Master of Arts in Political Science. He became a village development Officer in 1962. He was General Secretary of state V.D.Os. Association for 16 years continuously.

He resigned his job in the year 1978 and joined Congress Party and since then till his death was striving for the up-liftment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in his home District in particular, and in the entire state in general.

He was elected as Member - Lok Sabha from Nagarkurnool, Mahbubnagar district in the year 1980. As a member of Parliament, he proved himself as a true public representative with his timely action responding to various problems of his constituency. Impressed by his zeal and progress, late Indira Gandhi - Ex-Prime Minister, sent him twice abroad as a delegate in a Parliamentary Committee .In the year 1986, he was nominated as Chairman, State Finance Corporation of India, by Rajiv Gandhi, Ex-Prime minister. He gave a new direction in its working and subsequently he was nominated as Joint Secretary AICC(I),and was elevated as a General Secretary, AICC (I) in the year 1989.

Mention should be made that the information of his elegation as General Secretary was informed to Sri Mallu by the AICC (I) President Sri Rajiv Gandhi when Mallu was in his native place, which was a remote village - by phone personally proves the affection of Sri Rajiv Gandhi.

Sri Mallu was sent as PCC (I) President to his home State to strengthen the base of the party organisation and had been doing well. His illustrious career came to an end on 07-02-1990 abrupt due to massive heart attack.
