AANGILAM (ஆங்கிலம்) is a bilingual Edublog, based in Hong Kong, was launched in 2007,[3] dedicated to teaching English grammar through Tamil and now it is most popular site for English language learners among Tamils around the world. The blog also provides free downloadable facility its lessons as PDF files.

History

Aangilam was started on November 29, 2007 as an educational blog.[4] and its first month traffic was only 212 views, but in a short time the blog become popular among the Tamil blogosphere and some of websites, blogs, and forums reviewed and published introductory articles about it.[5][6][7][8][9][10] In 2009, in the second year anniversary day, the blog had been reached over million of views and now it's doubled.[11]

Notability

The Aangilam blog's unique content and clear explanation has been attracting thousands of visitors and at the same time hundred of Tamil bloggers and websites linked to the original site,[12][13] meanwhile some others take entire or all most all content to republish them on their own blogs and websites without asking for permission or giving attribution.[14][15][16][17] Interestingly, some blogs and Facebook like pages have created just for republish its posts.[18][19][20][21]

Meaning of "Aangilam"

The name "aangilam" is a Tamil word and its meaning in English is "English" which is the reason the site named as "aangilam" because it teaches English.

Audience

The blog's major visitors have been coming through direct visits, organic search results, referring websites and blogs. And minor visits come from social media.
