Aarhus Fremad is a Danish football club currently playing in the Danish 2nd Division West. They play at Riisvangen Stadion in Aarhus in Jutland, which has a capacity of 4,500.

History

The club began as one of the country's first athletics clubs back in 1897 under the name of Aarhus Fodsportsforening "Fremad". Later followed, among other things, handball; the football department was started in 1947. Recently, a tennis department was also established.

Football department

Aarhus Fremad lived a shadow existence for many years with a low point in 1974, when the first team played in Series 5, and there were only 9 members and a large debt. A new coach brought new players and sponsors in, and the club soon began to climb through the ranks. Between 1984 and 1997, under the leadership of Kim Poulsen, the club won nine promotions and ended up in the Superligaen as a professional club. In 1999 the first team changed its name to FC Aarhus. In the 2005–06 season the club was at the top of the 2nd Division West, and it resulted in the promotion to 1st Division.

The club plays at Riisvangen Stadium in the north of Aarhus. The club has yet to compete in the 1st Division since the 2007/08 season, after having finished just above the relegation line in the 2006/2007 season.
