Abbas Abu Amin
This is a Malay name; the name Abu Amin is a patronymic, not a family name, and the person should be referred to by the given name, Abbas.
Abbas Abu Amin was a Singaporean Member of Parliament (MP) from 1980 to 1991.
He studied at Kota Raja Malay School and Victoria School. He went on to the Teachers' Training College and joined the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) in 1966. He rose to the rank of Major in the Singapore Army.
In 1980, he became a MP for Pasir Panjang, until 1991.
Abbas was also the Chairman of the Football Association of Singapore from 1988 to 1991,[1] and an active trade unionist in National Trade Union Congress.
