Abbey is a political division returning three Councillors to the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. At the 2006 election Jeanne Alexander, Graham Bramley, and Mohammed Fani all of the Labour Party (UK) were elected for a four-year term in office. The population in 2011 was 12786.[1]
