Abctales.com is a writers' website first established in December 2000. It originated as an idea of The Big Issue founder John Bird and was started by Gordon Roddick, co-founder of The Body Shop and Tony Cook, co-founder of Red Pepper Magazine.[1][2][3] Tony Cook stepped down as acting editor in October 2013 and the site was edited by Luke Neima until October 2014.[4][5]

About

The site allows users to post creative fiction and non-fiction. Writers must be registered to submit their work, after which they may also give and receive feedback on writing and post in the site's forums. The site's editors highlight work that is outstanding or that indicates substantial improvement with a variety of awards: cherries, golden cherries (for a 'pick of the day') and green or blue books (for a 'story of the week' or a 'poem of the week'). Stories awarded a pick of the day, story of the week or poem of the week are featured on the home page. The site also features author interviews, competitions and readings within the UK.[6][7][8][9]
