Abdullahi Aliyu Sumaila (1946–2003) was a Nigerian politician and administrator. One of the first administrators to inherit the post first republican administrative structure instituted by the military, He was at Wudil Teachers College from 1963-1967 where he earned a Higher Elementary Grade II Teachers Certificate becoming a Certified teacher.He attended Advanced Teachers College Kano, Institute of Education Ahmadu Bello University from 1968-1970.He was a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University,Zaria (Bachelor of Social Science-Government (1974),(Political science)and attended Ahmadu Bello University,Zaria from 1976-1977 for an M.Sc. Political Science.[1] many of his administrative reforms where integrated into the bureaucracy of the Nigerian federation [2] He served the Local Education Authority, Kano State government and the Federal Government in various positions. He was a teacher to Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya at the local education authority from 1968-1969 when he served as the Assistant Headmaster at Tsangaya Primary school.He also served as the Secretary Kano State Executive Council, Principal Secretary to the Kano State Executive Governor,Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Transport and Permanent Secretary Civil service Commission, Kano State. He also served as the Chairman Board of directors Hadejia-Jama'are River Basin Development Authority and Kano State Television Corporation. He was the Secretary-General of the People's Redemption Party Kano State Directorate, Vice-Chairman III Social Democratic Party (Nigeria),Kano State.He was also one of the pioneer industrialists in Kano State where he served as Chairman in the Boards of Aurum Nigeria Limited and, KADFRU Limited, He was a Board Director in Arewa Steel Works, United Confectionary, Dayekh Tiles Nigeria Limited, Hayder Trading and Manufacturing Limited, and Precise Oil Resources.
