Abel Dhaira (9 September 1987 – 27 March 2016) was a Ugandan international footballer who last played for Icelandic club ÍBV, as a goalkeeper.
Club career
Dhaira has played club football in Uganda, the Congo and Iceland for Express, URA,[1] AS Vita (whom he joined in December 2009 for US$22,000[2]) and ÍB Vestmannaeyjar.[3][4][5] He was released by Tanzanian club Simba SC in December 2013.[6]
International career
He made his international debut for Uganda in 2009.[3] Dhaira competed at the 2012 CECAFA Cup, where he was hospitalised following a collision with an opposition player.[7]
Death
On 27 March 2016, Dhaira died from cancer, at the age of 28.[8]
