The Aberdeen Micropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of two counties in South Dakota, anchored by the city of Aberdeen. As of the 2000 census, the μSA had a population of 39,827 (though a July 1, 2009 estimate placed the population at 39,139).[1]

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 39,827 people, 16,319 households, and 10,534 families residing within the μSA. The racial makeup of the μSA was 95.88% White, 0.26% African American, 2.45% Native American, 0.37% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 0.16% from other races, and 0.80% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.65% of the population.

The median income for a household in the μSA was $33,611, and the median income for a family was $40,981. Males had a median income of $28,101 versus $19,263 for females. The per capita income for the μSA was $17,307.
