Abibatu Mogaji, MFR, OON (October 1917–June 2013) was a Nigerian Business magnate and the President-General, Association of Nigerian Market Women and Men.[1][2]

Early life and career

She was born on October 1916 in Lagos State, Southwestern Nigeria. She was the mother of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress and former governor of Lagos State, senator Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.[3][4] Prior to her appointment as the President-General, Association of Nigerian Market Women and Men, she was the vocal leader of the market women’s association in Lagos State.[5] In recognition of her contributions to trading in Nigeria, she was bestowed with National awards by the FederalGovernment of Nigeria.[6] She also received several honorary Doctorate Degree from recognized Nigerian Universities, such as Ahmadu Bello University and the University of Lagos.[7] She died on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the age of 96 in her home at Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State and was buried at Ikoyi Vaults and Gardens in Lagos State.[8][9]
