Absent Friends is the first episode of Season Four of the BBC technological thriller, Bugs. The original airdate was 11 July 1998.
Synopsis
Ros has mysteriously vanished and when her car is found in a river, Beckett is forced to resign. Elsewhere, a dormant eco-terrorist group reawakens when an enormously-powerful government minister begins dealing in bio-weapons.
Trivia
Season Four was marked by the change of actors portraying Ed, moving from Craig McLachlan to Steven Houghton. This was particularly noticeable given that McLachlan has a strong Australian accent, and Houghton, Northern English: "Interestingly, nobody noticed that he'd swapped his Aussie twang for a Northern accent – perhaps they thought he'd just become Anglicised."[1]
