Abu Dhabi University ADU was established in 2003, after three years of planning by H. H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other distinguished citizens of the United Arab Emirates.
The University has stated:
The founders of the University envisioned an institution that would be among the best in the UAE, the Persian Gulf region and throughout the world.— [2]
Accreditation
The university aimed to ensure that all degree programs would be accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research before any students enrolled.[2] The College of Business Administration had received AACSB accreditation in 2015. Some of the College of Engineering programs received accreditation from ABET in 2015 as well.
Colleges and programs
Abu Dhabi University provides both undergraduate and postgraduate study programs, and consists of three colleges along with the
- English Language Institute (ELI)
- the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS)
- the College of Business Administration (COBA)
- the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS).
Abu Dhabi University has affiliations with the following institutions: ENPC MBA Paris, Al Maktoum Institute, Universitätsklinikum Bonn, University of Westminster, University of London, and Thunderbird School of Global Management,.[3]
Abu Dhabi Campus
In October 2006, a new campus opened in Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi. It includes a teaching hospital, prayer rooms, a graduate center and a sports field. There are plans to build a K-12 school with a nursery that will cater to 2,000 students. [4] The construction plan was divided into three phases.[4]
