AdRoll's mission is to "take the most advanced display advertising techniques and make them accessible for brands of all sizes."[6]
AdRoll has received $89 million in funding since inception.[4] Its investors include Foundation Capital, IVP, Accel Partners, Merus Capital, GlenMede, Northgate Capital and Peter Thiel.[4][7]
AdRoll has partnered with over 60 advertising exchanges and networks including Google DoubleClick (AdX), Facebook Exchange (FBX), Facebook Website Custom Audiences (WCA), Yahoo, MSN, Twitter, and AppNexus to offer its clients access to 98% of the web.[8] It currently serves over 25,000 advertisers in over 100 countries.[4][9][10]
History
AdRoll was founded in March 2007 in San Francisco, CA. It originally launched as a social advertising network with an objective of helping niche publishers attract advertisers.[11] AdRoll started to gain traction when it shifted into the retargeting space in 2009 with its introduction of the "RoundTrip" product.[12] By 2012 AdRoll had onboarded 3,500 advertisers and it opened its second office in New York, New York in February 2013.[13] Four months later it bought Bitdeli, a big data analytics platform.[14][15] AdRoll’s growing international client base spurred the opening of an EMEA headquarters in Dublin, Ireland in October 2013.[16] AdRoll finalized its second and latest acquisition in SaaS user retention company Userfox in January 2014.[17] Responding to a trend of growing smartphone usage around the globe, AdRoll launched a beta phase mobile offering in February 2014 that allows its advertisers to retarget consumers across different devices.[18] AdRoll opened its fourth office in March 2014 in Sydney, Australia. [19]
The company in June 2014 announced it was adding 100 new jobs in an expansion of its Dublin office which when implemented would take the number of people employed to 220 in Dublin, and 540 in total.[20]
