Adam Lynn Duvall (born September 4, 1988) is an American professional baseball left fielder and first baseman for the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Career
Duvall played college baseball at Western Kentucky University, Chipola College and the University of Louisville.[1][2] He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 11th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft.[3] He made his professional debut that season for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, and played the following year with the Augusta GreenJackets. In 2012, while playing for the San Jose Giants, he led all Class A players with 30 home runs.[4]
After spending the season with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, Duvall was added to the 40-man roster on November 20, 2013.[5] He started the 2014 season with the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies.[6]
Duvall was called up to the majors on June 26, 2014.[7] He hit a home run in his first MLB game off of Mike Leake, who he was later traded for.[8] He was sent back down to the Grizzlies on July 4 due to the return of injured Brandon Belt.[9] When Brandon Belt was sent back to the DL due to lingering concussion symptoms, Duvall was called back up to the Giants to play first base, alongside Travis Ishikawa, Buster Posey, and Michael Morse.
On July 30, 2015, Duvall and Keury Mella were traded to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for Mike Leake.[10] On August 31, 2015, Duvall hit his first home run as a Red in his first time at bat.[11]
Personal
Duvall was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2012.[12]
