Adele (also spelled Adèle, or Adelle) is a female given name of Germanic origin used in English, French, German, and Italian with a meaning of noble, kind, and tender.[1] It should not be confused with the male Arabic name Adel, which has a different pronunciation, although rarely Adele may be spelled without the "e" on the end, as with Adel Rootstein. An Arabic female name which is even used in Persian, is Adeleh. It is also used as a spelling variant of the Yiddish name Edel.
