Afrogecko is a genus of small leaf-toed geckos from southern Africa.[1][2] The genus was revised in 2014. Afrogecko are moderately size geckos measuring 45–50 mm (1.8–2.0 in) in snout–vent length. They have a fairly large head and long snout, cylindrical body, and round, tapering tail.[2]
Species
Until the revision of the genus in 2014, the genus contained the following four species:[3]
- Afrogecko ansorgii
- Afrogecko plumicaudus[4]
- Afrogecko porphyreus — Marbled leaf-toed gecko
- Afrogecko swartbergensis — Swartberg African leaf-toed gecko
Following the revision, Afrogecko ansorgii and Afrogecko porphyreus remain in Afrogecko, whereas Afrogecko plumicaudus becomes the type species of the new monotypic genus Kolekanos and Afrogecko swartbergensis the type species of the new monotypic genus Ramigekko.[2]
