Agnimitra Paul is an Indian fashion designer.[1][2][3]
Early life
Paul was born in Asansol, West Bengal, India in a family of doctors and academicians.[4] She went to Loreto Convent in Asansol, then she had an MBA from Jadavpur University and a Diploma from the Fashion School of the Birla Institute of Liberal Arts & Management Sciences.
Career
Paul started her career in 2001-02. She designed Sridevi's personal wardrobe. She later got her first big break designing costumes for the film Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche where she designed some costumes for Esha Deol. She designed outfits for Shonal Rawat for Femina Miss India pageant. She designed for the Bollywood film "Via Darjeeling" for Kay Kay Menon, Sonali Kulkarni, Parvin Dabas and Vinay Pathak. She also designed for more than 10 Tollywood films with actors like Mithun Chakraborty, Rituparna Sengupta, Jeet, Koel Mallick, Swastika Mukherjee, Mauli Ganguly etc.
She gave a bottle-green and beige kantha stole to the then US Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton during her visit to Calcutta in May 2012. Paul handed it over to a member of her entourage as she could not give it to her personally. The former first lady acknowledged the gift and had a letter sent through the American Center director, Jeffrey K. Reneau.[5] The letter reads, “Dear Ms. Paul: Thank you for the beautiful shawls and blanket you gave me during my visit to Kolkata. Please know I appreciate your thoughtfulness and good cheer, and that you have my best wishes for continued success with your fashion design company.”[6]
She has her own fashion label called as INGA after graduation and retailed in stores in major cities across India.
Recently (in 2015) designed costume for the film Naxal
Personal life
Agnimitra Paul is married to Partho Paul, an industrialist.[7]
