Ainsdale Cricket Club

Ainsdale Cricket Club represents Ainsdale, a village of approximately 15,000 people on the northwest coast of England, close to the seaside town of Southport.

Historic records show that cricket has been played in the village since the year 1881. However the modern club was not founded until 1911[1] when it took up residence at Liverpool Road - the ground being donated to the Cricket Club by the owner at the time of the Railway public house. Today other sports such as five and seven a side astro 3G pitches, bowls, darts, pool, and football are also played at the Ainsdale Club. The club is the only multi-sports club within the village, providing approximately 9 acres of sports fields for use by all age groups.

Ainsdale play their cricket within the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition.[2] Ainsdale have 2 Saturday teams and a Sunday team, along with 5 strong junior teams and a strong number of members.

Aindale 1st xI play there games in the first division of Liverpool and District Cricket Competition.[3] and have had many stand out pros including Mohammed Asif,Wasim Jaffer and Sajid Mahmood.

The second team which also plays Saturdays is a strong competitive team in the 2nd XI first division in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition.[4]

The 3rd XI which play on Sundays are a mix or old players with experience and young players with potential to have a balanced side. Here the young players gain experience, become better players and then hopefully advance to the 2nd and 1st teams.

The Ainsdale club as of 2014 is having new changing rooms built and has already had new 3G astro Football pitches installed in 2013, the club is growing in size and is becoming stronger thanks to work from committee members who are looking towards the future of The Ainsdale Club
