Akhtar Khan best known as Akhtar Khattak is a Pakistani banker[1] and economist,[2] who is the current Junior National Saving Officer (G-9 branch) of Ministry of Finance (Pakistan) Central Directorate of National Savings. Akhtar Khan also served as Minister of the Interior for 20 years. He is associated with Tablighi Jamaat.

Early life and background

Akhtar Khan was born to Mr. Sai Khan[3] who was a commander and officer of the Pakistan Army and his grandfather Mr. Khayali Khan who fought in World War I and later died in World War II. His grand-grandfather Abbas Khan was a Chief of Pashtun tribe in 20s.

Education

Akhtar Khan passed his Secondary School Certificate around 1979 from Government Boys High School Makhad. After getting his Secondary School Certificate his family moved to Sahiwal where he did Higher Secondary School Certificate from Government Post Graduate College (Sahiwal).

Career

Khan firstly joined the Mehkma Janglat but shortly he[4] left this office to assume the post in Ministry of the Interior in 1982 where he served for 20 years. In 2002 Akhtar Khan was posted to Central Directorate of National Savings of Pakistan.[5] Nowadays Central Directorate of National Savings of Pakistan 367 National Savings Centers spread throughout the country.
