Alain Monié
Alain Monié (born 1951)[1] is the CEO and Director at Ingram Micro Inc, and a Director at Amazon.com Inc.[2] Monié first joined Ingram as Executive Vice President in February 2003.[3] In August 2010 Monié resigned from Ingram, serving for one year as CEO of Asia Pacific Resources International Holdings Limited (APRIL).[1] In November 2011 he rejoined Ingram Micro[4] and became the President and CEO there in January 2012.[3]
Education
Monié received his education in France. He earned his master’s degree in business administration from the Institut Supérieur des Affaires in Jouy en Josas. He was recognized with high honors for his studies in automation engineering which he pursued at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers .[4]
Career
Monié began his career as a civil construction engineer in Mexico City, Mexico, moving on to general management positions at Sogitec Inc., and was a controller for Renault.[5] From October 1997 until December 1999 Monié held server positions at Honeywell International, becoming the division president at Honeywell in January, 2000 until August 2002.[1] Monié joined Ingram Micro Inc in February, 2003 as Executive Vice President. At the beginning of 2004 he became President of Ingram’s Asia-Pacific region, and also served as Executive Vice President and President of Ingram Asia-Pacific beginning in January 2004 until August 2007.[3] From 2007 until 2010 he was president and chief operation officer of Ingram. During the three years in which Monié led the company’s regional office it doubled in size after the acquisition of Tech Pacific.[4] In August, 2010 Monié resigned from the company and subsequently served as CEO of APRIL, a pulp and paper company headquartered in Singapore. In November 2011 he took up his previous job once again as President and COO at Ingram.[1] Monié was named CEO of Ingram on January 20, 2012, taking over from the previous CEO, Greg Spierkel. Monié is currently the CEO of Ingram Micro, and is also on the Board of Directors of Amazon.com, where he has served since November, 2008.[1]
Personal life
Monié is a resident of Orange County, California, not far from the headquarters of Ingram Micro in Santa Ana.[1][6] Monié enjoys the many leisure and sporting activities that are offered by the natural environment near his home. As he stated: "Where else can one of for an ocean walk in the morning, ski some excellent mountain powder in the afternoon, and enjoy fine dining at a local vineyard that same evening? In Orange County, we know how to work hard, but we also know how to stop and smell the orange blossoms."[1]
