Alastair Lukies
Alastair David Lukies CBE (born 1973 in Harlow) is a British entrepreneur. In 2003, he founded Monitise with Steve Atkinson when they saw the potential of using the mobile phone for more than a text or call. They wanted to link banks and mobile operators, letting consumers manage their finances or make payments directly from their mobile. Prior to this Lukies was a co-founder of epolitix.com.
In 2006, Monitise was recognised as a Technology Pioneer[1] by the World Economic Forum and in June 2007 Lukies led the company’s demerger from Morse and listing on the LSE's AIM market. In January 2014, Lukies was appointed as a Business Ambassador[2] for the financial services industry by the UK Government. He was named Non-Executive Chairman[3] of fintech industry body, Innovate Finance, at its launch in August 2014. Lukies was awarded a CBE for services to mobile banking and charity[4] in June 2014.
In March 2015, Lukies stepped down as Chief Executive[5] of Monitise, but remained a Strategic Advisor to the business.
