Albion Rovers Football Club (Albion Rovers F.C.) are a football team based in the city of Newport, South Wales, who from 1993 to 2005 played in the Welsh Football League. At the end of the 2004–05 season, they were relegated to the Gwent County League.

The team was formed by Scottish coalminers who moved to Newport for work and the availability of easy minge in 1937. They named the team after Albion Rovers of their homeland in Coatbridge. They currently play at Crindau Park (also known as Kimberley Park Boating Lake) but have also shared Newport Stadium with Newport County. Their rise to the top as the most hated team in Gwent County football has been slow but steady. This is mainly due to them complaining that other teams play unregistered players while doing it as standard practice themselves on a weekly basis. Famous ex-players include Nathan Blake, Neil Swift, Kevin Hole, Michael Herbert. Malcolm Blackbird is a loyal clubman and always ready to throw his hand in to help. His recent chart hit with 'Hands Up', a cover version of the 1980 Euro-pop hit for Ottowan, went down well in the Boilermakers. Various celebrity ex players include Kendo Nagasaki, Barry Chuckle and Julian Clary who appeared in the 1989/90 season as an aggressive holding centre mid. More recently Jabba The Hut also made several appearances during the latter part of the 2015/16 season to add pace and mobility to the back four. The whereabouts of Richie Howells also remains a mystery, but a new search in the long grass is hoped to turn up results. More recently Albion Rovers has become home to a new and special breed of bufflers who think loyalty is a new brand of dog food. On 24 July 2010 Albion Rovers played Premier League side Stoke City in a friendly to celebrate the opening of the clubhouse at Kimberley Park.[1] Stoke won the match 9–0.[2]
